AWE: Alternative Worship Experience SECOND Sunday of the Month, 6:00 pm AWE is our "Alternative Worship Experience" - a relaxed, laid back, very informal service with some singing, communion, and a brief message that will us launch into our fellowship and Bible Study time following the half-hour worship service. Everyone is welcome to join in a Bible Study group, share some food, and make new friends. AWE will occur once a month, on the Second Sunday of each month. Hope you can join us!
Ecclesiastes is one of the books many shy away from. They view it as depressing and not the best way to start out when teaching about the Bible. I disagree. Ecclesiastes hits on one of the most basic human emotions – feeling lost and hopeless, that life has no purpose or meaning. Now I don’t know about you… but I’ve been there. Ecclesiastes voices what we all feel at some point in our lives. Some more regularly than others. Yet, Ecclesiastes doesn’t leave us in the doldrums of depression. Dietrich Bonhoeffer stated that it was an invitation to worldly happiness and to radical involvement in the issues of this world. St Jerome viewed it as a call from the world and its distractions. And Luther believed it was intended to encourage readers to happily enjoy the things that are present…lest we permit the present moment to slip away. In short – it’s about doing things in their proper time throughout life. I believe it’s the proper time to begin this worship and study series. I hope you’ll join me on the journey. - Pastor Rebecca Bible Study Small Groups that meet after AWE Worship: Mom2Mom - Chapel
