WEDDING POLICY
The First Lutheran Church Wedding Policy is as follows: "It is the policy of First Lutheran Church that when the facilities of our church are being used for worship that they only be used for worship which has been approved or recommended for use by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. (Lutheran Church = Lutheran Rite) Exceptions to this policy would be ecumenical worship services hosted by First Lutheran Church and worship services conducted by those congregations which are members of denominations with which the ELCA is in full communion. These denominations would be, the Presbyterian Church USA, the Episcopal Church USA, the United Church of Christ, and the Reformed Church in America. All exceptions to this policy must be approved prior to the scheduling of the worship service by the Congregational Council."
- The scheduling of all wedding activities must first be cleared through the church office before any final dates and times are committed by the church or its staff.
- First Lutheran Church does not customarily grant the use of its facilities or staff for non-member weddings. Either the bride or the groom shall be an active member of First Lutheran Church. Any exceptions to this policy must have the prior approval of a pastor.
- A pastor of First Lutheran Church will preside at all weddings performed at First Lutheran Church. Other clergy may be invited to serve in various capacities as assisting ministers. Should you desire another clergy to be involved, we ask that you speak to a pastor of First Lutheran Church before any invitation is extended.
